We are Mike and Suzie
Broderick, an
English couple running a B&B and Gite located in beautiful Cathar country in the South of
France. Our aim is to provide you with high quality, clean and
comfortable accommodation at reasonable prices. We take pride in our
catering and can offer our B&B clients evening meals "en-famille"
at reasonable prices if required. We can cater for most dietary requirements
with advance notice.
Situated in a small village about 8Km from Quillan, the nearest town, we are also
near
the famous villages of Rennes-le-Chateau and the spa town of Rennes les Bains, are within easy reach of Carcassonne, Perpignan and Toulouse, and about 45 minutes from the ski centres.
Accommodation is in a
modern house:
We
have 1 double room with shower and basin (separate WC) and 1 twin bedded
room with full en-suite facilities. Regretfully, we don't have family rooms.
Should you wish to be self catering, we also have a self
contained Gite suitable for 2 persons, ideal to rent if you're looking for
property in the area.
For your comfort, guest
room windows are fitted with fly screens and there is heating for the winter
months. All our accommodation is 100% non-smoking and we regret that we
cannot accommodate pets.
Our guests have the availability of either vegetarian or non-vegetarian evening
meals, see our sample menu page for mouth-watering examples.
Should you wish to eat out, there are also many good restaurants within a short drive, however
vegetarian options in restaurants are limited.
We live in a superb walking and touring area with dramatic scenery and plenty of
leisure facilities nearby to make this an ideal spot to
enjoy your holiday.
We are served by three airports, all within easy reach:
UK
Stansted to Carcassonne (twice daily in summer months) with Ryanair;
UK Stansted to Perpignan with Ryanair;
UK Southampton to Toulouse and Perpignan with Flybe (Toulouse only in
winter).
Other flights available from other
airports. There are superb road links from Calais, Cherbourg, Le Havre and
St. Malo - journey time about 15 hours, so we suggest you stop overnight at
Limoges or Poitiers, both of which are about half way. If you come by boat
to Bilbao, the journey time is about 7 hours.
With much to do and see, canoeing; horse
riding; fishing; walking; visiting castles and châteaux; relaxing etc. - whatever you want to do - it all contributes to
your enjoyment of this corner of France. For energetic lovers of mystery
and intrigue, you can walk from our home to the nearby famous village of Rennes le
Chateau, set high on the hilltop overlooking Couiza. For the less energetic,
it's an easy journey by car, perhaps combining it with a visit to the nearby
Chateau d'Arques.
